Educational System

Hawaii's unique school system operates under a single system administered and funded by the State of Hawai`i. The school system is divided into seven district offices throughout the state.

District Offices:

Hawai`i Office
808-974-6600 (includes all schools on the island of Hawai`i-Big Island)

Kaua`i Office
808-274-3502 (includes all schools on the islands of Kaua`i and Ni`ihau)

Maui Office
808-984-8000 (includes all schools on the islands of Maui, Moloka`i and Lana`i)

Oahu is divided into 4 school districts:

Honolulu Office
808-733-4950 (includes all Honolulu zip codes, except for those in the Hickam, Moanalua, and Pearl Harbor area)

Central Office
808-627-7478 (includes schools in the zip code areas of Aiea, Haleiwa, Kunia, Mililani, Wahiawa, and Waialua as well as the Honolulu communities of Hickam, Moanalua, and Pearl Harbor)

Leeward Office
808-692-8000 (includes schools in the zip code areas of Ewa Beach, Kapolei, Pearl City, Waianae, Waipahu, and Nanakuli)

Windward Office
808-233-5700 (includes schools in the zip code areas of Hauula, Kaaawa, Kahuku, Kailua, Kaneohe, Laie, and Waimanalo)

Registering a Child

To register a child in the public school system, the following is needed:

Questions regarding a child's attendance at a public school may be posed at the District Office closest in proximity.

The length of the school day as well as the school calendar is specific to each school.
