The Hawai'i School District is the southernmost district located on the Big Island of Hawai'i. The island has a population of about 138,000 people over an area of 4,028 square miles. There are forty elementary, middle, and high schools in this district. Working in this district can be clallenging because of the island's large size and remote areas. Servicing several schools may required traveling over 35 miles in some areas. However the island's size also offers a wide variety of climates and scenery, from beaches to rain forests to an active volcano, making this island an interesting and peaceful place to live.
